Shelly Beach has a rocky shoreline with an ocean bath for swimming. Shelly Beach is a great option for parents with younger children. There is a large grassed area, barbeques for public use, and a fenced playground (with a liberty swing for children with disability). Across the road from the park are a kiosk and restaurant. The area is easily accessed by prams and people with a disability. The ocean baths are not patrolled by lifeguards.

Dogs are prohibited on the beach. Dogs on-leash are allowed on the walkways and in the park. Dogs are prohibited within 10m of the fenced playground.

The park and beach are popular locations for wedding ceremonies and wedding photography.
